Starting to SMASH!!

SMASH BOOK

Heard of it? Seen it?

If you haven't yet, be prepared to start.

Smash Books and Smashing are becoming more and more popular in Australia at the moment (along with Project Life). I love the idea of Smash and everything it encompasses. I have always been one of those people that collects everything from everywhere. Business cards from places, receipts and serviettes from restaurants, tickets and brochures etc. Scrapbooking as we know it doesn't allow for these items to be used easily....

Enter Smash Books.

These are like those scrapbooks you would do as a child where everything was just cut and pasted and all smashed in together. I love it!! And the list of ideas to use a Smash Book for is endless.

I have started one Smash book, but have another ready to go and have already planned another one or two. Warning, Smash Booking can be addictive!!

The first thing to think about with Smashing, and something I have noticed not may people touch on, is your Smash kit. These are the very basics that you will need:
  • Your smash pen (glue stick on one end and black felt tip on the other).
  • Scissors
  • Ideas

That is about it.

Being a scrapper, I have added many more items to my kit (which I have all in a bag to take places easily, be it stilling on the lounge watching tv, a crop, or not being able to sleep in bed). Here is my added list of items:
  • Tweezers
  • Washi Tape
  • Dymo Labeler
  • Mini Alpha
  • Small stickers and tags
  • Photo corners
  • base papers
  • rub-ons
  • 3x2 Project Life cards

Here is the start of my first Smash book from our week long holiday in Queensland. I am using the Orange book, which is pretty generally themed. Absoluelty perfect for a first time Smasher.

I will try and do a Smash post every couple of weeks, so that you can see the ideas that I have managed to put down on paper.

In the mean time, you can check out some awesome videos on YouTube for amazing inspiration. Just remember that there is no right or wrong way to Smash. These are your dreams, memories and thoughts. You make them look however you like!!

Do you Smash? Have you thought about it? Are you interested in trying it now?

I would love to hear from you.
