WOW April New Release - MDF Door Sign
7:00 PMWords or Whatever dont just do chipboard and altaMATZ, there is a great off the page rage in MDF. This month I was sent a door hanging sign 'The Scrap Room'. So many ideas ran through my head when I first saw this, so I figured I would just dive in head first and see where it took me.
Firstly I coloured some texture paste with teal Dylusionals mist. I used the 6x6 Tree Silhouette altaMATZ (ALTA074) layed on the MDF and started filling it in with the texture paste. It was then left to dry.
Once it was dry, I started layering the brick design washi tape from the bottom up, cutting in around the tree with a blade. This was very time consuming once I got to the branches, but well worth it for the effect in the end.
To tie in the blue tree, I have misted the top part of the MDF a dark blue to represent the night sky. I layed a piece of scrap cardstock over the washi tape to create to straight line so that none of the mist got on the washi.
I have placed a bit of bling on the sky, including the Southern Cross to break to blue space.
Lastly, I have tied a strip of black ribbon to the precut holes so that the MDF can be hung from the door.
