'Insta Fun' - Words or Whatever

7:42 PM

So I'm still catching up with my shares from the September Words or Whatever new releases but this one was one I couldn't miss sharing.

Tanya and I had a bit of fun when I bought my 210 Fuji instax camera and this is another one of the photos playing around with it.

Insta Fun

Using chipboard background circles and light wood veneer 'Insta Fun' title

I have used a chipboard background piece and misted it with Heidi Swapp gold. These work so well behind small photos such as the instax to add a bit of depth to the page (and saves on the foam tape).

I have left the light wood veneer title raw. And no page is complete without a flair button. This one is from {A Flair for Buttons}.

My next shares will be from the Delights Retreat, and I can't wait as most of the photos are from our holiday to Hawaii.

'Watching in Wonder' - Stuck Sketches and Words or Whatever

7:30 PM

This month the Words or Whatever DT are participating in the birthday celebrations over at Stuck Sketches. It has been a bit of fun playing along again and the sketch we were provided with made it easy to pull a layout together (and use a few of my washi tapes from the ever growing collection)!

Watching in Wonder

Using chipboard Winged Heart Flourish and light veneer arrow

This sunset was amazing. These photos were the first photos taken using my new Neo 90 fuji instax camera and I love how strong and vibrant the colours are.

No page is complete without at least one flair button and this from is from {A Flair for Buttons}. It was perfect for grounding the bright colours in the layout.

Both Words or Whatever items have been embossed with aged gold. How gorgeous and intricate is that winged heart flourish? I would use these over and over again on projects.

There are still a couple of days left to get your entries uploaded to the Stuck Sketches blog and be in the running to win some of these awesome WOW products.

'Insta Love' - Words or Whatever

9:25 PM

After our holiday and a weekend at the Delights scrap retreat, its time to play catch up on sharing some of the September Words or Whatever layouts. For our holiday I invested in a Fujifilm 210 camera. This photo is the first one out of it (after the 3 black ones that I took because the lens cover was catching on the selfie mirror and wouldn't open)!

Insta Love

Using chipboard background piece and chipboard flourish

Both pieces of chipboard have been sprayed with Heidi Swapp gold mist. The background has been covered with black gesso and the gorgeous flair is from {A flair for buttons}.

Thanks for calling past. There will be a few more layouts this week as I play catch up.

Yum - XOXO Scrapbooking

6:12 PM

The new XOXO Scrapbooking scraplift layout is up for September, and it is one of yours truelys. I had a bit of fun with this layout and using a few of my favourite Words or Whatever products, and one of my favourite Maggie Holmes paper kits.

Yum

I have used one of the light wood veneer pieces cut in half to make it go further on the page.

I have also used a 12x12 Altamatz with a grey mist. I love this Altamatz and the way that it sits on the page.

To be a part of the XOXO scrapbooking all you need to do is scraplift this page. Use it as a sketch, draw inspiration from the colours, papers or photo. Upload it to the linky tool on the blog and you may be our next guest DT. We would love to see you enter this month.

'One of his' - XOXO Scrapbooking

7:00 AM

Its always a great feeling when you finally get a much loved photo scrapped and off your desk. This one has been floating around for a while now, and I love that its finally done, and that I am happy with the result!

This is a scraplift for the XOXO Scrapbooking August challenge and you all still have time to take part.

This gorgeous photo was taken by Tanya from TMK Photography.

'One of his'

I have also used a few Words or Whatever items and love how they have pulled the layout together.

I have used a liquid platinum embossing powder on the chipboard bike. Isnt it pretty?!!

And the dark wood veneer left all natural was the perfect tones for the page.

There are still a few days left to have a go at the XOXO August scraplift. Head over to the blog to see the original and the inspiration from the other girls.

'I Love' - Words or Whatever

7:30 PM

'Time flys when you're having fun'.... Aren't those words correct! We have been in preparations to get everything sorted out at home ready for our next holiday. Last weekend we spent at the snow. My gorgeous husband is turning 30. Maybe the saying 'when it rains, it pours' is more correct!

I find my mojo is lacking in the winter months anyway, but at the moment, I am spending more time buying scrap supplies than I am actually using them!

Here is a really quick page that I have put together for our Words or Whatever August new releases. These products are screaming at me to use them, but I hope to find some time this weekend in the middle of the celebrations and packing bags.

I Love

using new release dark wood veneer star messy oval, old dark wood veneer hash tags and old chipboard intricate squiggle.

As this was designed to be a quick page, I have left the wood veneer raw and coloured the chipboard in with a white gel pen so that it blends in with the page.

This photo was a screen shot from Instagram that has been printed onto fuji instax film with the genious new SP-1 printer (review to come in the near future).

Thanks for calling past and I hope to have more here soon to show.

'Speed Racer' - Words or Whatever

7:00 AM

I love a day where you are out with family and friends, and get a good photo that inspires you to sit down when you get home and scrap it straight away. I can admit that it doesn't happen very often, but I love when it does.

My hubby, his brothers, a close family friend and my gorgeous niece spent a Saturday afternoon at the local indoor go kart track. It was great watching them whizz around the track enjoying themselves, all while that rivalry was ever present. Lil had a go at it with them and did really well trying to keep up. I love this photo of her getting ready to set off onto the track for the first time.

This is the last of my shares using the July new release Words or Whatever chipboard.

Speed Racer

Using chipboard steam-punk piece, chipboard messy circle and chipboard 'you rock' title.

Again I got stuck into the embossing powders with this one. The chipboard has been covered in an aged gold giving it black specs showing through.

The messy circle is also in the aged gold. The 'you rock' title has been covered in a chunky white embossing powder. I cant say for sure that I am happy with the result, but it does give the page an additional bit of texture.

Thanks for stopping by. For those of you that love your instax cameras I have a review coming up soon that you might be interested in!

'Gay Parita' - Words or Whatever

7:00 AM

This is one of the holiday layouts with a big story. The challenge behind this page was trying to fit all of the journaling in. I will admit that there is so much to this story that I couldn't get on this page which is disappointing, but I do have another project in the works that I hope will allow me to tell everything about this 2 hour stop.

We stopped at Gay Parita on Route 66 in Missouri for a 5 minute photo opportunity and stayed for 2 hours getting to know one of the nicest, most genuine characters on Route 66. Gary is still flying the flag with this wonderful road and had many stories to tell. It is a tradition that when you stop in at Gay Parita you get a photo taken with the flag. We thought that was a great idea, but me being a scrapper wanted to document this stop the right way, so asked Gary to join us in the photo. He didn't really want to, but as we explained to him, the place is great, but he is the face of it and we wanted him to be a part of the memory for us.

Gay Parita

Using chipboard cogs and chipboard cog frame

And a couple of close ups of the chipboard pieces. These have been embossed with a 'platinum' finish. A really quick and easy way to alter your chipboard to match any project.

I love that his next piece held the detail after it was embossed. It was a very fine powder that was used. Don't you just love watching the powder melt to this beautiful finish?!

I was very excited to finally be able to use my Route 66 stamp too! It makes me happy knowing that I am getting around to getting these scrapped and that I am using items that I have put away to use.

'Beautiful Chicago' - XOXO Scrapbooking

6:30 AM

I have managed this month (finally) to pull together our scraplift over at XOXO Scrapbooking and finally posted it for all to see. I had a bit of fun this this one getting messy with gesso, and then it not looking anything like the idea in my head.... A second layer of gesso then just sticking stuff down to get it finished! Adding a bit of stamping, some flicks of mist and a bit of torn washi covered a few bits that I wasn't sure of!

I have used a few July new release Words or Whatever pieces on this page and think it made it look even better!! The wood veneers have been left raw and the flower has been coloured with Gelatos and a white gel pen.

Beautiful Chicago

Chicago is such a beautiful city and even nicer when it isn't freezing cold. This was the second time we had visited and, in shorts and t-shirts, much enjoyed our visit. We just wish we had spent more time here! We will be back one day (but only in summer).

Here is the page that it has been lifted off.

You still have a couple of days to get your entries linked up to the XOXO blog to have a chance to be out next guest DT member! Why not have a go?

'Happy Days' - Words or Whatever

9:05 AM

Guess who went AWOL for a while??? Me..... Life really got in the way for a little while there!

These new July releases over at Words or Whatever have really inspired me to get scrapping on our holiday photos from last year. There are so many of them and they all have such big stories behind them, that I struggle to fit it all in so I have been focusing on the smaller story photos for now. This page is a Words or Whatever overload, but it all works together so nicely.

I love this layout as it was such a big memory on our first day on Route 66. So many would drive straight past this sign and never stop, but thanks to our trusty guide book, we pulled up to stretch our legs and take a look around. This is a place in just outside of Lexington Illinois called Memory Lane. An old stretch of 66 still remains and is only driven on once a year for a big gathering to celebrate to Mother Road. The road is cracking up and has tufts of green grass growing through them. They have replica signs along the stretch too that would have been around at the time this road was still in commission.

'Happy Days'

Using new chipboard heart messy circles, chipboard 'happy days' title, chipboard flower stem, chipboard mason jars and chipboard flower head.

I was super excited to be about to finally pull out my Route 66 stamps and use them as embellishments on my page. It beats stickers and I can use these as many times as I like. This stamp was purchased from The Ink Pad in NYC and is the smaller of the two.

All of the chipboard has been embossed with either chunky white or aged gold embossing powers and I live the final affect. I also dragged out the sewing machine for this page to make it just that bit more girly. And there is always a Flair! This one is from A Piece of Cake Designs.

There is so much more still to come this month, so please call back soon y'all!

'Hello Utah' - Words or Whatever

8:30 PM

Yesterday was the first of my new release shares over on the Words or Whatever blog, and didn't I have fun with these gorgeous new goodies!

As they are very gender neutral they are perfect for the travel photos from our holiday last year and have inspired me to scrap photos that I am sick of looking at. Please tell me that I am not the only one that looses interest in photos after you have flicked through them a million times?

Hello Utah

Using new chipboard messy circles, new chipboard flower stems and new chipboard 'so awesome' title

All of the chipboard has been coloured. The messy circles with a white journaling gel pen. I find it doesn't soak in as much as mists and paints and gives a very good coverage. The flower stems have been cut to length and coloured with a red sharpie marker. I love finding items in my stash that just happen to work such as the kraft polaroid frame!

I have realised that when I get an idea in my head for certain items, I stash them away and they so long as that project never start, the items never get used. I have decided that I just need to use some of these items and if they fit with the layout I am piecing together, then on they go! There are a few items like this on this page. And the funny thing...... I don't feel bad for using them. I feel good that they are finally being used.

The chipboard 'so awesome' title has been coloured with a navy blue sharpie. And no page of mine would be complete without flair buttons. Both of the flair on this page are from {A Flair for Buttons}.

There will be plenty more shares this month using these gorgeous pieces so please call back soon for more inspiration.

'Dirty Janes' - Words or Whatever

7:30 PM

After having a week annual leave recently we took a day trip to Dirty Janes Antiques in Bowral, NSW. It was such a wonderful time wandering around and looking at some of the gorgeous items for sale. I could have spent thousands of dollars!!

Here is another layout documenting this day using some of the Words or Whatever new releases for June.

Dirty Janes

Using chipboard small leafy vine, dark wood veneer Hashtags and 6x6 Diagonal Stripes AltaMATZ

So like any good scrapbooker I took heaps of photos and played around with the one of the apps to pull them all together to be printed.

I have channeled a bit of Louise Nelson on this one and I love it. The wood veneer hashtags have been left raw and added as an embellishment with the sequin stars rather than to indicate an actual hashtag. The altamatz has been used with a bronze texture cream and I think was perfect to match the vintage look of the items in the photos.

The chipboard vine has been misted with both Heidi Swapp Georgia Peach (which has a gold base) and the Bronzer (also with a gold base).

I was stuck for where to put my journaling on this page as I used the tags for my background rather than to hide journaling, so couldn't make them movable. It was only that I happened to walk away from my scrap table and came back to notice the diagonal stripes from the altamatz. These made the perfect journaling area as I didn't have to add any additional elements to the page to fit it in. Its always good to walk away when you get stuck to find that fresh point of view on another look.

Don't forget to call past the blog and check out the inspiration on offer from the rest of the DT!

'This Happened' - XOXO Scrapbooking

7:30 PM

This month of at the XOXO Scrapbooking blog, Joanne has set our challenge and I love it as it can be easily interpreted for any style. I wanted to give myself a bit more of a challenge and make it incorporate more than one photo without loosing the original scraplift style.

I chose to scrap a few photos from our day at the Colour Run from when it was in Wollongong. It was my friend Stephs birthday and we had a ball! I wanted to tie the background in with the event theme so I have used it as my diagonal detail.

'This happened'

Here is Jo's page that I have scraplifted.

Why not give it a go and scraplift Jo's page too. Be sure to add it to the linky tool on the blog and you could be our next guest DT member.

'Always Family'

10:30 AM

I am loving some of the new items on the market at the moment in the scrap world. I won't lie, Teresa Collins and Heidi Swapp are a couple of the ones topping my list at the moment as you may be able to tell. I love the colours and they have inspired me to use gold as a key colour in all of my projects.

I have been watching a lot of process videos on youtube too, and it has actually changed the way that I do some things and I am loving it. I am feeling a bit more confident with some of the products I am now using, such as gesso, and it has changed the way I think about my pages.

I am also using more of the Words or Whatever June new release items and having a ball with them!

'Always Family'

using dark wood veneer mixed circles and chipboard Branch

I have put down a base of gesso on the page to give the break in the background but still a flat surface to work with (I did forget that I didn't cover the whole page when I misted so some bits have more colour than they should!). I have sprayed the chipboard branch gold to compliment the tones in the Teresa Collins paper.

The dark wood veneer I think matched well with the tones in the photo so it was left raw. I have used a mist rather than an ink on the tea cup stamp which I think worked really well. I have also scattered a few sequins in there too as another element.

I hope you are loving these new releases as much as I am. I have had fun playing with them and cant wait to get my hands on more for future projects!

Thanks for calling past and if there are any good process videos you use to inspire you on youtube, please let me know who they are or leave a link and I will check them out!

# Tilba

7:30 PM

I have been having a bit of fun playing around with more of the June Words or Whatever new releases. This page is a long way from my style and I'm still not sure I even like it, but I gave it a go anyway.

# Tilba

using chipboard mixed 2x3 mixed circles, chipboard hashtag, 6x6 cracked earth altamatz and chipboard circle 'love'

I started playing around with embossing powders at Christmas time and was far from happy with the result. They just weren't looking anything like I was seeing in the youtube videos. I bought a new one a couple of weeks ago, and have been embossing everything ever since. I love the Pewter colour and it is taking so well to everything I have tried it with. This is more like I have been seeing on youtube!! So, all 3 pieces of chipboard have been coated and embossed in the pewter colour.

I wanted to use the cracked earth 6x6 altamatz and wondered how I would get it to tie in with the layout. As the background is already a patterned paper, and the added gesso, I ended up spraying the altamatz plastic and pressing it against the page where I wanted colour. This worked really well. This way I didn't get any messy over spray where I didn't want it either.

There is still plenty more to see from this months Words or Whatever new release, so please come back and check it out!

'Smile'

4:52 PM

Welcome to my first layout using the new releases for June for Words or Whatever.

Can I just say that I love how this layout ended up. I usually do a page a year about where I am at in my life, and I know that I hadn't done one for when I was 31. Thought this was the perfect photo and I wanted to make it a bit fun and of course very girly. The Maggie Holmes papers suited this so much and I am glad I focused on the dark blues.

Smile

Using chipboard Mixed Circles, dark wood veneer Ampersand and chipboard

You will see that I have filled most of the spaces in the mixed circle with some of my favorite embellishments - flair buttons, enamel dots and sequins. You will notice that I am using a lot of gold at the moment too, which ties in perfectly with the Heidi Swapp buzz words for the title.

I really wanted to dull down and soften the background paper, but I didn't want to go down the gesso or texture paste path, so I used a bit of cheesecloth and I think it worked well by adding another texture and not making the white to background so stark.

This mixed circle piece comes in various sizes and also in both light and dark veneer. I have cut this one to make it work on the page, and it is perfect to fit the flair buttons in there too.

Don't forget to call past the DT blog and leave some love for the girls. All of these products are available through you LSS now.

XOXO May Challenge - 'Wigwam'

7:00 AM

I love the scraplift challenges that get put before us as a design team at XOXO Scrapbooking and this month is no different. I love that they push us out of our comfort zones and we have a chance to do this to the other members too.

Michelles layout this month was a double layout using photobooth photos so was a bit of a challenge as I have no photobooth photos to scrap. So, I had to use a bit of imagination to come up with an alternative. This is where printing photos in smaller sizes is a good idea.

Wigwam

This layout design documents this stay on our holiday in America last year perfectly.

Here is Michelles inspiration layout.

If you want to take part in this challenge, they need to be uploaded tonight! Head over to XOXO and check out the inspiration the other girls have put up. They are great.

'Always & Forever Happy'

7:00 PM

Welcome back for another dose of Words or Whatever May new releases. I had so many plans for this page and a vision in my head, which I will admit, this looks absolutely nothing like! I think we all have days like this.

I wanted a soft feel to the page. Something to let the photo really stand out and be the centre, which I achieved. I love the soft feel.

Always & Forever Happy

Using dark wood veneer circle cut and dark wood veneer 'XOXO'

The dark wood veneers are so easy to use knowing that all you have to do is stick them down! And how great are these pieces? Perfect size for scrapping, project life, smash or cards.

I really wanted to put a good amount of machine stitching on this one and who doesn't love a good sequin here and there ;-)

That is it for me for the May new releases. Don't forget to keep an eye out for the next lot in June.

12x12

'Has My Heart'

8:00 AM

Please tell me that I am not the only on who does a birthday cake every year for their dog??!! Please don't make me feel like a crazy cat lady!

As we don't have kids, our dog is our child.... our furbaby, and is spoilt rotten. Every year we do a quick cake for her, with pink icing, always in the number that she is turning! Call it practice before kids!

This layout kind of fell together. I was playing away with texture pastes, gelatos and a water pen trying to put together a decent background technique, which didn't work anything like I wanted it to (so more practice is obviously required)!

Has my Heart

Using chipboard 'Heart You' and chipboard flourish corners.

I love that a dog can love so unconditionally. She is our world and to know that she is there for us at the end of the day makes me happy to come home.

The 'heart you' above has been designed for Words or Whatever by the gorgeous and super talented Jo Kinder. I have coloured it with a black sharpie to break all of the colour on the page.

The corner flourish is also coloured with a black sharpie marker. And yes I totally forgot to put the date on the page before I took a photo of it!!

Don't forget to check out the Words or Whatever blog for all of Design Team inspiration. There is so much over there to see.

12x12

'Everyday Love'

7:00 PM

Welcome back for another Words or Whatever new release share for this month. I love this layout and how it came together, and the bright happy colours now that the weather is getting colder.

I have had this photo hanging around for some time now and have never found the right products to scrap it with. I don't use a massive amount of bright colours but this one called for it.

Everyday Love

using chipboard 'everyday' title, chipboard 'love' title and light wood veneer 'xoxo'

I love it when the pack of a product is all nice and pretty inside. If you are anything like me you will hold onto it until you find a good use. Can I say, this one only lasted a day or two before it was stuck down! Isn't it pretty, and oh so perfect for this page.

I don't scrap 'everyday' very often. I take lots of photos but that's about as far as they get. This photo was a reminder of how loved I am, and how it is shown in such simple ways.... like this. Coming home from a day at work and then a night time meeting to find my bowl and fork all ready for 2 minute noodles, my tea cup all ready for hot water and my cup all ready for whatever I wanted to have with dinner. Its all topped off by the Tim Tams and the love note!

Its important to remember the little things and that is what this page is for.

I have coloured the chipboard titles with vintage photo ink and left the light wood veneer raw.

I love how this page turned out. I think it is a bit of a new favorite!! Do you scrap everyday life?
