Final Total for 2011

2011 has been the first year I have seriously tracked the amount of layouts, cards and OTP that I have completed. It was a fun exercise, but me being me, I like to compete with time and myself. By September I could see how I was going then set a target for the year. I am sad to say that even with a last minute rush of pages, I didnt manage my 200... I fell 19 short!!

My total is 181 Layouts, 33 Cards and 2 OTP's.

I can also say that I am not dissapointed with that effort at all. I know how hard I can be on myself, but the time spent not scrapping was spent caught up in everyday life. Because of this fact I am going to try and get through a 52 week album in 2012. To document those everyday life moments we get caught up in and between turning 30 and getting married in 2012, there will be a lot to document!!

So as I have been working towards my target this month, I have some pages to show...

Are you a Lipstick Chick??

I am.........

I have been busy working behind the scenes on my first challenge with my new Design Team over at True XOXO Scrapbooking - Lipstick Chicks....

I received an email from the beautiful Lindsay, who I must say I had forgotten that I submitted an application, asking me to become a True XOXO girl, and how could I resist.

It is not your average scrapbook challenge blog! First the team is challenged, then you are! We're kissing our creations goodbye because we want YOU to to be inspired by them!

I will be working with an amazingly talented group of girls and our first challenge will go live on January 1st 2012 (USA time). I have seem more of the layouts already and you are sure to be inspired!!!

OTPs are something that I find a little scary... A bit like double layouts really! But like doubles, when you put your mind to them, you can achieve them and be happy with them.

I found a particular mini album that would work as a little extra Christmas present for my future Mother-In-Law. I love nothing more than getting photos of our Nieces and Nephews, and Christmas is no different. I though if I put both of those ideas together, I would have a nice little snapshot of the kids at our family Christmas gatherings for one very proud Nanna.

Here are a couple of photos of the finished album using the My Minds Eye 12 Days of Christmas, WOW Chipboard, Purple Pumpkin Buttons and a few other bits and pieces.

This photo of all of the kids together is the one and only we have since Lachie was born. We did have to tell them that there were no presents until we took a group photo, but they all cooperated and the photos is one of those happy memories of a wonderful day (and time of year altogether).

I will admit, I had fun with this. I didn't know what photos I would have and knew that I would not have time at Christmas to make it from scratch, so to fit in with the time constraints, I put it all together less the photos a month prior. All I had left to do was play with the photos and make them all fit!!

I love the end result...

Stuck?! Sketches -15th December

I will admit I did find this sketch a little easier than the first one this month, but I was still stuck for ideas. On the other hand, I really knew I wanted this photo to go with these papers and have had them matched up for some time now, stashed away for then I needed a quick page kit. They came in handy as my inspiration for this sketch over at Stuck?!

It is another holiday pic from the start of this year, and I am slowly working my way through them, but I must say I am in love with the end result and it is one of my favourite pages at the moment!!!

I know Christmas time is a massive rush for us all, but this is where sketches come in handy... You don't have to spend much time thinking about how the layout will look so half of the battle is won. A Cold White Christmas??

That is not going to be the case this year, or maybe any year for that fact. We have been having a bit of a cold snap at the moment as have most areas on the Eastern side of Australia. I have been listening to carols, wrapping presents, writing lists and Christmas cooking, yet this year doesn't feel right. I don't know if it just the weather or that this time of year is such a rush, but one thing I do know is that I am longing more and more for that Northern hemisphere "White" Christmas. The ones where the Christmas carols all make sense...

Part of this is also because of this scrappy page. I can only imagine New York at this time of year and what I would give to have just one Christmas there... (Warning: Crappy iphone pic that i will replace when I get a better one).

This page was produced with the November She's Savvy kit and fitted these photos prefectly. Can you imagine New York at Christmas time? Anyone that knows me personally, knows that I fell in love with New York and I still think a part of my heart is there!!

I hope you are all getting into the Christmas Spirit and are organised for the big day.

Guest Designer - Scrapbook Savvy

To my surprise I received a text message from Sar at Scarpbook Savvy just after stepping off a plane in Brisbane, last Friday. I was just a little bit excited when Sar was letting me know to check the Savvy forum when I got a chance.... I had been awarded Guest Designer.

This gave me a free We're Savvy kit to play with, and oh this kit was gorgeous!!! I have been having a mojo slump at the moment so this was the gentle force I needed to get me back into playing around. And perfect timing as I had just printed new photos which came in very handy!!

Here are the four pages I have done so far, with the addition of some string, extra alphas, mists and pearls (items in everyones stash). Adding a couple of extra pieces of cardstock, I could get another page out of this kit. 5 pages from a $25 kit is an absolute BARGIN!!! What a good Christmas gift for a scrapper friend or family member, or card maker.

If it wasn't for being a Creative Team member over at Stuck?! Sketches, I don't think I would have scrapped a thing last month... Life just got in the way!! So this means that my goal for December has just about doubled so that I can reach my target for 2011....

Every one is busy in December, so do as I have and even if you only complete 2 pages this month, make them the Stuck?! Sketches.

Here is the sketch. I have kept it pretty close to the sketch this time, and will admit I found this one difficult to think outside the square. But as always something came to mind and I am now happy with the result.

This month is seriously flying by and seeing that the second sketch has been released for Stuck?! Sketches, there is the proof!!!

I LOVED this sketch so much. It was one I couldn't wait to get stuck into and was sad when I had finished. I just knew exactly what I wanted to do with it the moment I saw it and when Mr Mojo is around, I used it to its potential.

Stuck?! Sketches - 1st November 2011

I know I say it every month, but where is this year going?? They say the years go faster as you get older, but they are already disappearing in the blink of an eye **insert sad face here**. The worst part about coming into this time of year is that it isn't going to slow down at all.

On the upside, I have already started my Christmas shopping!!! Have you?? It feels good knowing that most of the kids presents are completed. I am just waiting for them to arrive as I shopped online. I know its not good for local retailers, but when time is limited and I really hate crowds, it is the simple solution to my problems. It is also time to start working on my Christmas list, and working out my Christmas cooking schedule.

Anyway, this post isn't meant to be about Christmas. It is all about the latest sketch over at Stuck?!. Again, this one is another holiday picture and yes, I am slowing getting through them all!!!

While in New York, we visited Strawberry Fields, which is a peace park (in Central Park) dedicated to John Lennon as I believe he was shot just over the road from where it is. Growing up listening to The Beatles, thanks to my parents, it was a must visit for me, and I am very glad I did.

Purple Pumpkin & Bella

I didn't get a chance to submit my take on the October Purple Pumpkin sketch last month, so thought I would still share it anyway.

I recently purchased a couple of these gorgeous huge Bella! flowers from Scrapbooking Delights. I knew it wouldn't take me long to find a way to use them on a page, but the page had to be just right for it to work.

What better way to put a circle shape on a page than with the huge flowers and they are such a beautiful product. I cant wait to use more of them.

I have used a Purple Pumpkin floral XL button and A Lil' Somethin' doilie. This is also the new Times & Seasons papers from Echo Park.

Double Take

I have been playing again over the weekend, and again another double completed!! To get through some of these holiday photos, there will be a few doubles still to come. When it comes to attending an event like the Ice Hockey, Basketball or Baseball, I ended up with so many photos that doubles are the only option!!!

Its a good thing I am enjoying playing with them at the moment. And how is my luck with this one... Being Hallowen here in Australia, my oranges and blacks in this layout tie in well for todays post!!

Savvy Cybercrop

Scrapbook Savvy held its monthly cybercrop last weekend. As time is just flying by at the moment, I havent even had a chance to photograph my pages until today!! I managed 3 out of 5 challenges completed, which was a massive effort for me at the moment.

Stuck?! Sketches - 15th October 2011

The latest Stuck?! sketch was released on the 15th October. This sketch didn't seem to leave a lot of space for interpretation, yet as always, I found a way to flip it all around to make it suit both my picture and my style.

If you are a blog follower of mine, you will know that I had my first ever page published in Scrapbooking Memories a month ago. Even though I have the original page, I felt it was a milestone as a scrapper that I wanted to recognise. There are so many scrappers that try and don't make it with submissions, and I have had my share of rejection from magazines too. This page was an exception to every rule. It was the first one I ever submitted and the first to be picked up. It did however take 12 months before it was published, but that is better than the alternative. It took me another 9 months before they accepted any more.

What better way to preserve my first published page, than to scrap the page direct from the magazine!!!

NUMBER 100

I can't believe that I have hit post 100!!! It feels like I started blogging only a couple of months ago...So much has happened since I did and my style has changed heaps. I have played around with new techniques, and discovered new brands.

So to celebrate lucky 100, I am putting together an embellishment RAK. A few bits and pieces that I have laying around.

To be in the running, all you need to do is leave me a little bit of love.

Stopping back every now and then would be good too, but I know how busy life can get.

To finish off this post, I have to show one of my new favourite pages.

By using the papers and embellishments, I have managed to give the hard look of downtown LA a really light girly look...... And I love it!!!

Retreat - Wendys Class

Not only was the Savvy Delights retreat, my first retreat, it was also my first scrapping class. I was lucky enough to get on the list for the class by the gorgeous Wendy Smith.

This was also the first time I have met Wendy, and let me tell you, she is one amazingly talented lady.

The class entailed a kit from which 3 pages could be produced, using minimal items. I am a big fan of Wendys work, so, with the class I have kept the pages as close to the original as possible. Only 2 pages were completed during the class, with the 3rd to be completed when we have time.... Which I have not done as yet. That one is on the list for a lack of mojo day!!

Remember This

I was also very privileged to be asked by Wendy to complete a page for her while at retreat. Wendy gave me a photo of one of her gorgeous boys to which I pieced a page together. When Wendy asked me, I was going to ask someone to pinch me. I couldn't believe it, but was more than happy to have a play and to pass on a piece of my style to someone else's album. Thanks Wendy for the amazing class and for putting your faith in me to scrap a page for you. To see a copy of the page I did flow this link.

...I did a double!!!!

I had a bit of fun piecing this one together. I knew that with so many photos from the top of the Empire State Building, it was always going to be a double. I just had to be in the right frame of mind to make it work.

As we are ending a long weekend here in NSW, and daylight savings has now started, I have rediscovered my mojo and scrapped!!! I haven't had a chance to take any pics yet, but one of them is a double... These are my first pages since retreat, which had me thinking that I still have pages to show...

I really can't believe that we are into October already. It will be Christmas before we know it!!!

I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend and for those of us on long weekends, enjoying the extra day.
